Job Summary
Are you a registered mental health nurse looking for a role where you can help shape the future of forensic services? We are recruiting for a Band 6 Charge Nurse on Kingfisher Ward based at Thames House, a 26 bedded low secure forensic unit that provides ongoing care for women in conditions of low security. Many of our service users have had experience of the criminal justice system in the past.
As our Charge Nurse you'll work closely with the Modern Matron, Ward Manager and Clinical Nurse Lead and be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team comprising of nursing, medical, psychology and occupational therapy team members. You'll be able to develop your own practice, and support others to develop theirs.

Main duties of the job
* Work effectively with other members of the multi-professional team in the planning, delivery and evaluation of care
* Ensure that junior staff and learners are actively engaged in delivering patient care in accordance with the care plan.
* Observe, report and record changes in the patient's physical and mental health wellbeing and ensure timely escalation to appropriate members of the multi-professional team where this is required.
* Maintain a sound working knowledge of the legislation, policy and guidance necessary to care effectively for people with mental health needs.
* Identify, provide and supervise the necessary physical care to service users to help them complete their daily living activities.
* Act as the 'named nurse' for a specific group of patients and take responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of their nursing care needs.
* Make a systematic and comprehensive assessment of clients' needs, employing appropriate assessment tools, and within the CPA framework, to develop the plan of inpatient care taking account of all aspects of the client's needs and embracing the wishes of the client in the acute inpatient setting.
