POSITION SUMMARY:
As an RN on S7E, our Surgical/Stepdown (PCC level) unit, you will play an integral role in delivering exceptional care. Using our patient-centered care model, you will be able to deliver excellent care to surgical patients from a variety of specialties including orthopedics, vascular medicine, thoracic, bariatric, and complex medicine. S7E is a 30-bed unit with a skilled nursing staff, and candidates will work with our educators to ensure a robust orientation and training with a preceptor to ensure that you are prepared for optimal patient care.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Deliver nursing care in the S7E unit, including assessing, diagnosing, planning, intervening, evaluating, and educating patients.
* Communicate with various health care team members, patients, and their families.
* Coordinate and delegate appropriate patient care activities to inter-professional colleagues.
* Update and manage patient records.
* Enter and interpret computerized data/information.
* Follow guidelines and policies established by BMC’s nursing organization.
* Assist the leadership team as needed in quality improvement projects.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
* Licensed to practice professional nursing as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
* Diploma, ASN or BSN (preferred), Ability to obtain BSN within 4 years.
* 1+ years of RN experience preferred. Newly licensed nurses are welcome to apply.
* Previous Med-Surg experience preferred.
* Certification in basic life support (BLS).
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.
* National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certificate preferred and/or completed during orientation.
* PCC certification preferred; training for PCC education will be offered as part of a plan for professional growth.
* Telemetry experience preferred.
* Effective verbal and written communication skills.
* Physical ability to meet job responsibilities.
* Basic computer proficiency.
* Fluency in another language a plus.
