We are looking to appoint a Solicitor within our Legal team, on a full-time permanent basis, working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday to support the Senior Legal Counsel and Regional General Counsel UK&I with looking after two of the business units. You will be based out of the London office where necessary and expected to travel to some operational sites or offices as required, though there will be flexibility to work from home.

The role will be to ensure the proper contractual relationships are in place to manage legal risk across all of its contracts for the services that the businesses provide. You will need to demonstrate strong commercial acumen and demonstrable experience in dispute resolution.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Paralegal with PQE as a Solicitor in the UK or Ireland. More experienced candidates will be considered.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviewing, drafting, redrafting and / or negotiating (if required):
contracts based on customer terms and conditions;
contracts based on standard terms;
contracts based on standard terms and conditions or pre-agreed customer terms;
contracts with suppliers and / or subcontractors based on either standard terms or customer standard terms;
variations and novations to contracts;
non-disclosure agreements;
data processing agreements;
termination agreements;
assisting with reviewing tender documents for new business opportunities; and
researching, understanding and presenting on new areas of law.
Other responsibilities:
Provide the business with advice and possible solutions (by considering mitigating factors) to commercial and legal risks associated with customer proposed changes or customer terms and conditions.
Provide assistance in ensuring the company has the proper contractual relationships in place for all of the business that it performs.
Ensure that relevant internal approvals are obtained through the correct channels / internal governance processes.
Provide advice and guidance to the business as to rights and obligations under the terms of existing contracts.
Provide assistance with ad hoc legal projects.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Financial and commercial awareness, particularly the ability to explain legal issues to the business / non-lawyers
Knowledge and understanding of contract and commercial law
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to negotiate contractual terms with lawyers and non-lawyers
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong drafting skills
An eye for detail and an ability to plan and organise workload independently
Ability to work collaboratively and proactively with the business to identify and address legal risks and issues
Desirable Skills and Knowledge:
In-house experience with a reputable organisation, though not essential
Some knowledge of construction law and / or Private Finance Initiative structures and contracts
Some knowledge of procurement law and public sector contract award processes
Experience of working within an environment of outsourcing services
Experience in dispute resolution (e.g., mediation, litigation)
Experience providing legal advice in the prison, hospital or schools sectors helpful
