YOUR ROLE
Due to a recent promotion, we now have an exciting opportunity to grow our team. This role provides the foundation for becoming a fully qualified Shunter and, eventually, a Driver. No two days are ever the same-you could be shunting wagons in the sidings or hauling trains within our railway site. You'll start with a competitive salary, which increases upon qualifying as a Shunter and again once you achieve your driving qualification.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
General Railway Operating Duties - to include Railway Rules, Local Working Instructions & Methods of Work
Perform the responsibilities of a Railway Shunter, including coupling and uncoupling wagons, setting points, and inspecting train formations
Operate Steelman and Vanguard Locomotives, ensuring smooth journeys while performing essential maintenance and equipment checks.
Carry out Rail Operating duties at other locations UK wide if required.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES
Experience in railway operations. (desirable), however training will be provided for suitable candidates
without railway experience.
Pass Drugs and Alcohol screening in accordance with current regulations for Safety Critical posts. (Mandatory prior to appointment)
Full current UK driving licence.
Qualified in First Aid at Work (Post appointment if required).
Must be conversant with PC operation and Microsoft Office suite of applications
