About the job Job summary Consumer Scotland was established by the Consumer Scotland Act 2020 and formally took on its statutory functions and powers on 1 April 2022. Job description The energy market is undergoing rapid changes and consumer representation in pivotal discussions around issues such as affordability and market reforms are essential to ensure fairness is at the heart of our energy system and the transition towards a net zero society. We are now recruiting for two Head of Energy roles. One role will lead our team on Energy Markets covering, but not limited to, issues relating to the retail market, network regulation and market reform. The other role will lead our team on Energy Transition, covering, but not limited to, issues relating to energy efficiency and low carbon - including heat networks. Close working between the two teams is essential, given the high degree of synergy between the respective areas. The two Heads of will each be responsible for representing consumer interests across our activity in the relevant areas of the energy sector. Each will play a leading role in the organisations strategy for working with the relevant public and third sector partners, business, the UK Government and other key stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for households across Scotland. They will be required to collaborate effectively with other teams within Consumer Scotland and with stakeholder organisations. There will be a need for flexibility and creativity as the organisation continues to build its work in these key areas. Both roles will report to the Director of Policy and Advocacy. Strong interpersonal skills, with experience of establishing, developing and maintaining positive relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead others to deliver organisational priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment. Strong communicator, both verbally and in writing, and highly effective in influencing and negotiation. Experience at providing leadership to team members to achieve organisational objectives and develop their skills to reach their potential.
