Lead Tutor – Maths and English
Location: Thetford
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Role Overview:
The Lead Tutor will be responsible for delivering and managing high-quality education for students aged 14-19 with complex needs and behavioural challenges. This role requires a combination of teaching expertise, curriculum development, staff leadership, and student support to ensure an inclusive and effective learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Teaching & Learning:
* Plan and deliver engaging, structured, and differentiated GCSE Maths and/or English lessons that cater to individual learning needs and abilities.
* Develop schemes of work and assessment plans that align with national curriculum standards and meet the needs of students with additional learning requirements.
* Use a variety of teaching strategies, including project-based and practical learning approaches, to enhance engagement and motivation.
* Monitor student progress through regular assessments and data analysis, adapting teaching strategies as needed.
* Provide targeted intervention for students who require additional support to achieve their learning goals.
1. Leadership & Management:
* Oversee the curriculum, ensuring it is high-quality, inclusive, and responsive to student needs.
* Manage a team of educators, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development to improve teaching standards.
* Conduct regular performance evaluations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing support plans where necessary.
* Lead by example in promoting high standards of teaching, learning, and behaviour management.
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures, creating a safe and structured learning environment.
2. Student Support & Engagement:
* Build strong relationships with learners, fostering a positive, supportive, and structured learning environment.
* Work closely with parents, carers, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development and wellbeing.
* Implement effective behaviour management strategies to support students in developing self-regulation and resilience.
* Promote a culture of inclusivity and respect, ensuring that all students have equal opportunities to succeed.
* Support students in setting and achieving their academic and personal development goals, preparing them for further education or employment.
Requirements:
* Qualified Teacher Status (or a willingness to work towards it).
* Proven experience working with students with complex needs and behavioural challenges.
* Strong understanding of curriculum planning, assessment strategies, and differentiated teaching approaches.
* Excellent behaviour management skills with the ability to create a structured and engaging learning environment.
* Previous experience in a leadership or mentoring role, with the ability to support and develop staff.
* A commitment to safeguarding, student welfare, and inclusive education.
* Full UK driving licence.
