North Locality Night Service, District Nurse Team has an exciting opportunity to recruit a Band 5 Community Staff Nurse role. This role will be 15.5 hrs per week working flexibly over 7 nights. This is a permanent role.
We would like an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 5 Community Nurse, who will be happy to work in an evolving district nursing service. The successful applicant will be committed to working closely with health and social care colleagues to provide high quality care to patients with a wide range of medical conditions in the community setting.
Applications from student nurses due to qualify and newly qualified staff nurses are welcomed from those who wish to develop within the scope of Community Nursing.

We also work in line with the work and home life policy whereby long days can be considered and applied for under this policy to support work life balance.
Main duties of the job
The Team is conveniently based in the centre of Morecambe, making this a desirable and convenient, easily accessible area to work in.
The role requires excellent communication skills as you will be undertaking complex nursing assessments and developing and delivering programmes of care for patients and carers.
You will need to work collaboratively with other professionals, voluntary sector and informal carers to promote excellent care to patients in their own homes and community setting.
You will be joining an enthusiastic and motivated team who are friendly and approachable. We are very patient focused and staff development is high on our agenda. As part of our team we want to develop all staff to the highest standard.
Working for our organisation
We operate from three main hospitals - Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community health care premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.

Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* Level 1 registered nursing qualifications.
* Wound care experience and or qualification.
* Catheter care experience and or qualification.
* End of life and palliative care, experience and or qualification.
Ability and Knowledge
* Awareness of current changes in the delivery of healthcare.
* Broad knowledge base of acute and chronic conditions.
* Understanding of reflective practice and its application.
* Demonstrate evidence to work as part of a team.
* Demonstrate evidence to motivate team/peers.
* Demonstrate an awareness of current National and Local NHS activity within the acute and primary care settings.
Experience
* Evidence of clinical/professional development.
* Demonstrable experience of using initiative and effective prioritisation.
