Vertu Motors, Gateshead We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Brand Content Writer to join our Marketing department at Vertu Motors plc, one of the largest automotive retailer groups in the UK. The Brand Content Writer will play a critical role in the consolidation process of our three main automotive retail brands, which are to evolve under one super brand – Vertu – in addition to being fully accountable for its content going forward, including leading on content production relating to our 32 manufacturers that we’re proud to represent. Within this role, curating tone of voice, pitch, clear brand guidelines and awareness of your audience is crucial, especially as we establish Vertu in the market as a leading automotive brand backed by the full strength of our dealership network, including over 200 retail sites. Understandably, you must be able to write engaging, professional, informative and clear content that captures customers’ attention, whilst also having working knowledge of SEO, including keyword and data analysis, to shape future content and to measure performance. As Brand Content Writer, you will have a significant role in driving the strength and growth of the brand through all aspects of customer facing content, working with both the Marketing department and the wider business to meet a range of objectives, improve on set KPIs and drive performance forwards. The ideal candidate must be a self-starter; you will be accountable in ensuring content across Vertu is optimised to best drive inquiries or increase the likelihood of conversion. As well as leading on establishing clear brand guidelines, product descriptions, reviews, landing pages, demonstration of services, event communications, news and features for the newsroom, customer journey messaging and wider customer communications will all be part of the mix of content required within the role. As part of an award-winning team, you will work alongside our Senior Content & PR Manager and Head of Content, PR and Social, whilst supported by the wider Marketing department, but will also be given the freedom to work independently and to develop your own plans and ideas on how to drive the business’ content channels forward. Key Responsibilities: Produce a wide range of content including (but not limited to) product descriptions, reviews, demonstration of services, event landing pages, news and features for the newsroom, customer journey messaging and wider customer communications that fall part of the marketing mix. Curate optimised brand tone of voice, pitch and preferred language options to produce clear guidelines to help best establish Vertu in the market. Provide clear brand guidelines to other areas of customer communication within Marketing (CRM, Events, Partnerships, Social etc.). Additionally, help to mentor and guide the wider content team on establishing their own guidelines within their areas (ancillary businesses, Motability etc.). Ensure content produced is always up to date and relevant against the ever-changing landscape of the automotive industry; maintaining strong product knowledge (both of vehicles and services), in addition to providing passion towards representing our 32 manufacturers and their developments is key. As part of the above, write topical and engaging and informative content that is reactive to the industry and manufacturer updates. Ensure that all content created is fully optimised for relevant usage, working closely with Web and SEO teams to support the SEO challenge and drive inquiries and increase likelihood of conversion. Monitor KPIs such as SEO ranking, web traffic, bounce rates, Reach and engagement rates to ensure you track against targets and drive content performance forward, meeting set objectives for the month, quarter / year for the Vertu brand. Take a proactive lead in generating ideas for future content, bolstering how engaging, informative or useful copy can be. Work with the wider team, including PR, Social and Events to maximise the impact of content created. This is a hybrid role, based out of our central Gateshead offices and the salary is £33,000. Qualifications and Skills: A degree or high-level equivalent of formal qualification in English, Journalism, Creative Writing, Marketing or similar. Please be prepared to share portfolio to evidence writing in a variation of formats. A strong attention to detail and exceptional writing skills, with an ability to create engaging, persuasive and informative content for a variety of needs and audiences. Proven experience creating a comprehensive and strong brand pack, brand guidelines or some similar form of content standards for an established brand. Excellent communication skills to help mentor and guide other members of the team, or wider colleagues in the department. Set brand guidelines must be provided to other areas of customer communication within Marketing (CRM, Events, Social etc.), guided by you. Exceptional organisational and time management skills to deal with the need to work on various projects at one time, with the capability to work efficiently to strict deadlines. An ability to work with internal teams and external partners (where required) as well as an ability to work pro-actively, being accountable for performance results of content despite several colleagues’ involvement. Excellent knowledge and understanding of using keyword analysis and search engine optimisation is required. Proficiency with GA4 or equivalent in monitoring and interpreting web page performance data is required. A passion for all things automotive; experience in writing B2C automotive content is advantageous.
