The post holder will be responsible for providing clinical care to all inpatients of MacColl (18 bedded ward) or Eagleton (19 bedded ward), with male adults of working age, at times leading the Multidisciplinary Team Reviews, as well as supporting and contributing to the management and development of the ward functioning. The post holder will liaise with the Home-Based Treatment Team and Care Coordinators from the three Community Mental Health Teams in Salford, to facilitate discharge, and provide an alternative to inpatient admission.
Main duties of the job
Clinical role
1. Undertake 'clerking in' assessments of referrals/ admissions to the service.
2. Diagnose and formulate initial working management plans.
3. Work with MDT in management of treatment resistant and complex presentations.
4. With MDT input, assessment and management of risk including of vulnerability, suicide risk, risks to health and safety and risk of harm to others.
5. Once experienced, engage in preparation of Mental Health Review Tribunal and Managers' Hearings reports and attendance at subsequent hearings.
6. Work in a collaborative way with multidisciplinary teams including external partners.
Leadership role
1. Engage in shared collaborative leadership in the MDT.
2. Engage with clinical audit and departmental service development work.
3. Maintain own CPD, revalidation requirements and mandatory training.
Educational role
1. Contribute to the mentoring / training for the trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner.
2. Contribute to teaching of medical students and others, including near-peer clinical supervision for psychiatric trainees and teaching sessions as required to the whole team.
