Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP)
To work alongside professionals delivering psychological interventions within the primary care setting. A Psychological Well-being Practitioner will assist with the overall delivery of guided self-help psychological interventions within a stepped model of care in line with NICE Guidelines.

Main duties of the job
The main roles will include:
1. Face to face, Video and telephone work with clients with common mental health problems such as anxiety and depression, at step 2.
2. Work within practice teams including liaison with GPs, Practice staff, third sector agencies and service users and carers.
3. Networking with the wider health and social care system.
4. To work autonomously within the team and possess excellent organisational and time management skills, in order to cope with the demands of the service.
5. To have undertaken the "Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Care" course and be qualified as a PWP.
6. The post holder will demonstrate respect and value service users' and their carers.
Job responsibilities
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop skills of collaborative working with service users (and where appropriate their carers) to build an effective partnership of care.
2. To carry a caseload of clients and assist in identifying and effectively managing their emotional distress and disturbance.
3. Utilise a range of guided self-help interventions, in line with NICE guidelines.
4. Utilise a range of core skills in mental health practice in order to contribute to and co-ordinate the care and treatment of clients with mild mental health problems.
5. Implement and support a range of evidence based interventions utilising a self management model of mental health care.
6. Collaborate with service users and other people involved in their care to encourage medication compliance.
7. Help to establish systems in practices for the effective management of mental health needs of individual service users, families and communities.
8. Through supervision, systematically evaluate and record outcomes of mental health interventions, adapting care on the basis of these evaluations.
9. Participate in inter-professional approaches to care that respect and utilise the contributions of the wider health and social care team.
10. Utilise managerial and clinical supervision to ensure that care and treatment are tailored to service users, family and community needs; that learning needs are identified and acted upon to ensure personal development.
11. Practice in a non discriminatory manner, respecting the variety of beliefs and cultural practices of individuals and groups.
12. Assist in the delivery of the Mental Health Promotion Strategy for the Halton Borough at a local level.
13. To record and evaluate outcome measures as part of the ongoing therapy process, for a service user.
14. To assist in the accurate entry of clinical data onto the Trusts agreed systems.
15. To ensure the highest standards of clinical record keeping, including electronic data entering and recording.
Person Specification
Qualification
* Having passed an accredited course and being specifically qualified as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner - i.e. PGCert in Primary Care Mental Health Practice / PGCert Low Intensity CBT Practitioner
* Registration with either the BABCP or the BPS (or for newly qualified/appointed staff, to achieve this within 12 months)
* Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, arts therapy or within a psychological therapy
* Health or Social Care related degree
Experience
* Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
* Proven relevant experience of working with people with common mental health problems
* Ability to manage own workload and time
* Ability to demonstrate high standards in written communication
* Able to analyse patient & operational data relating to the service and communicate this clearly verbally and using Microsoft packages such as excel
* Able to write clear reports and letters
* Ability to evaluate and put in place the effect of training
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including telephone skills
* Able to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients
* Demonstrates a knowledge of the issues surrounding work and the impact it can have on mental health
* Knowledge of self-help materials for managing common mental health problems.
* Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
* Proven relevant experience of working in Primary Care Services
* Proven relevant experience of working in a service where agreed targets in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
* Proven relevant experience of working in the local community
* Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
