Job summary Swansea Bay UHB Infection Prevention & Control Service is currently looking for a motivated and enthusiastic active NMC registered nurse/ midwife/ health visitor with significant knowledge and experience in IP&C, to become part of our specialised Integrated Infection Prevention & Control Team. The post holder will support the Head and Deputy Head of Nursing for Infection Prevention & Control to ensure a high standard IP&C service is delivered across the Health Board, to support Service Groups and improve patient care and experience. The post holder will be required to provide effective leadership, operational direction and professional support across defined areas of responsibility under the direction of the Head and Deputy Head of Nursing for Infection Prevention & Control. This will be a permanent position with full time hours, predominantly based at Morriston Hospital, and will be expected to travel between other Health Board sites. Full time hours (37.5 hours), Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm and occasional weekend working 8.30am to 4.30pm Saturday/ Sunday. There will be a requirement to deputise on infection prevention & control matters in the absence of the Deputy Head of Nursing for Infection Prevention & Control. The post holder will be responsible for the line management of the Nursing Team within the Infection Prevention and Control team, and ensure a seamless delivery of the Integrated IPC Service is provided across all areas of Swansea Bay University Health Board. Main duties of the job Provide a highly specialist service in the control and management of healthcare associated infections (HCAIS) and Decontamination throughout the health board. Work in partnership with the Service Groups to carry out quality improvement initiatives and innovations related to infection prevention and control, and education/mentorship to a multi-professional audience within the health board and University setting; Ensure delivery of an audit programme for the health board, ensuring that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of service delivery in the context of infection prevention and control; Provide effective leadership, operational direction and professional support across defined areas of responsibility leading and empower staff to ensure a high standard of professionalism, efficiency and effectiveness across all areas of responsibility and ensure quality, governance and performance objectives are achieved including clinical supervision; Provide specialist expert advice for care planning and ongoing treatment/care for individual patients and patient groups in relation to infection prevention and control across the health board; Interpret National Policies to develop and implement internally to ensure and assure safe, effective and high-quality care and service provision for infection prevention and control.
