Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a cancer/haematology nurse specialist to join the Haematology service at Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust.
This is a substantive post. The Haematology Lead CNS is a key worker role that encompasses addressing the Haematology patients' health concerns and works to promote their health and wellbeing. Using their skills and expertise in Malignant and non-malignant haematology care, the CNS provides physical and emotional support to their patients, coordinates their care services, and informs and advises them on clinical and practical issues associated with their illness. This leads to a more positive outcome for patients.
You will incorporate the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role dimensions of expert clinical practice, education, leadership, management, and research. Representing the Trust and the Haematology service at all meetings related to the haematology service framework.
Main Duties of the Job
* Assess, manage, deliver, and co-ordinate the plan of care for patients utilizing the effective and efficient use of resources.
* Demonstrate advanced practice in holistic assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care within their own specialty. This will necessitate high levels of autonomy and advocacy and include receiving direct referrals and ensuring the delivery of appropriate care for a caseload of patients.
* Plan and manage own workload/caseload and the workload of the service, in a flexible manner, ensuring that service provision meets the needs of patients.
* Demonstrate advanced knowledge, skills, and innovative practice in the relevant specialist area. Ensure that there is a system of nursing documentation that reflects this advanced practice.
* Demonstrate knowledge of clinical trials relevant to the specialist area.
* Identify areas of research/audit with the team, sources of funding, and initiate research/audit projects within the team.
* Undertake clinical sessions in a variety of clinical areas across T&SD NHS FT.
* Understand and accept the parameters of their professional role. When appropriate, contribute to the expansion and development of the role to meet the changing health needs of the client group.

Person Specification Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Minimum of 5 years as a RN and experience at band 6 in relevant specialty.
* NMC registration.
* Evidence of continuous personal and professional development.
* Experience of working autonomously and as part of a team.
Desirable
* Advanced communication skills qualification.
* SACT trained. SACT passport/equivalent experience.
* Independent Non-medical prescriber (INMP).
* Band 7 experience.
