If so, we may have the job for you. We are currently recruiting for a Band 6 Junior Sister / Charge Nurse on Ward 15 at the Alexandra Hospital.
Ward 15 is a busy 15 bed acute medical ward. Patients on our ward have complex needs and you will be liaising with the wider MDT to meet the needs of our patients. As a Sister/ Charge Nurse, you will be expected to support the management structure to provide a consistent high standard of nursing practice with particular emphasis on quality and clinical standards.
We are looking for a dedicated nurse with the skills to thrive within a fast-paced environment with the ability to cope under pressure who is keen to pursue a leadership role.
The ideal candidate will have excellent clinical, communication, and organisational skills, with a willingness to develop managerial skills in order to be both a role model and mentor, supporting the wider nursing team.

Main duties of the job
To lead the nursing team in the provision of high quality, research-based, nursing care that is patient-focused.
Provide support to the Ward Manager in the general management of staff including delivering appraisal reviews, managing the off duty, recruitment selection, and the supervision of junior members of staff.
Utilise clinical audit systems to help monitor and improve standards of care throughout the division and to highlight areas of concern.
To assist with the management of the ward effectively and efficiently within allocated resources.
To foster a multidisciplinary approach to patient care in line with Clinical Governance and provide leadership on the Trust's values and behaviours.
Job responsibilities
Job Purpose:
To act as team leader for clinical staff.
To be responsible for clinical and non-clinical management of a ward area in the absence of the Senior Sister / Charge Nurse.
Key Duties:
Operational Responsibilities
* Responsible for establishing and maintaining communication and relationships both internally and externally.
* Establish and maintain effective communication and foster good working relationships with all multidisciplinary teams, both internal and external.
* Provide and receive complex and/or sensitive information from patients and staff, such as breaking bad news to patients and giving complex information about procedures and their outcomes.
* Responsible for cascading information to ward staff and chairing staff meetings from which minutes are provided.
* Deal effectively with comments, complaints, or incidents that affect staff and users of the ward in accordance with complaints, risk management, or human resources procedures.
* Bring to the attention of the Senior Sister/Charge any factors which may adversely affect patient care or service provision.
* Report all serious incidents to the appropriate Manager/Director within 24 hours; these include Never Events, serious falls, and grade 3 or 4 pressure ulcers.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered Nurse on sub part 1 or 2 of the professional register
* First degree or willingness to undertake
* Evidence of continuing education
* NMC recognised Mentorship qualification
* Specific speciality related qualification/equivalent experience
* Teaching and Assessing Qualification
* Higher Degree
Experience
* Can demonstrate a specific interest in area of work
* Experience of supervising staff
* Recent qualification or extensive experience of working in an acute setting
* Proven knowledge base/experience in speciality
