Salary Grade Band 7 spinal points 26-29 plus 1% possible occasional weekend working
Band 8 spinal points 30-32 plus 1% possible minimum weekend/bank holiday working, Market supplement £2,145 and AMHP Allowance (If qualified and work on the AMHP rota).

About the Role
Social work is at the heart of social and community innovations in mental health service in Trafford. An exciting opportunity has arisen, and we currently have a full-time and a part-time social work vacancy within the North Community Mental Health Team in Trafford.
This is an exciting time to work as a mental health social worker due to the community transformational work which is underway with the aim to contribute to better practice, better mental health outcomes and place-based service which provide right care, at the right place, and the right time. Within the world of social work this reflects the prevent, reduce, delay statutory requirements within the Care Act 2014 and the importance of the wellbeing principle.
Within this social work role, the expectation will be that for the people you support lead fulfilling lives and reach their potential to live as independently as possible, that you work in a holistic approach, with the person and their social network, helping to strengthen and build sustainable families and social capital.
On a day-to-day basis you will work in a multi-disciplinary team and carry a caseload of people with severe mental health problems working within a Care Program Approach underpinned by the social model of disability, work within a strengths-based approach and deliver statutory duties as per the Care Act 2014 (and other applicable legislation such as the HRA 1998/ MHA 1983/ MCA 2005) and the mental health recovery model.
To support you to achieve this you will be supported with regular social work supervision and support to maintain your professional identity, access to relevant training from the Mental Health Trust and Trafford Council. You will have regular invites to Trafford’s Adult Social Care Forum and made to feel part of the Trafford family alongside having strong links to Trafford’s Principle Social Worker and CPD opportunities and career progression.
Social Workers applying for this role can work towards an AMHP qualification/ AMHP’s and be part of the AMHP rota. If you’re an AMHP you will be supported to maintain your AMHP status, be offered regular AMHP supervision, regular contact with our team of AMHPs who will provide peer support, advice, and AMHP related training opportunities to support your mandatory 18 hours per year AMHP related training. You will have access to the AMHP forum to meet with other colleagues and share information and best practice.
Your substantive employer will remain Trafford Council and this role will be based within a community mental health team. It is important to note that both Trafford Council and Greater Manchester Mental Health work together in partnership and have both signed up to ensure the appointable candidate feels supported and valued by both organisations.

About you
We are looking to recruit Social Worker’s/ AMHP’s that can work with warmth, empathy, and genuineness when within a multi-disciplinary team and have a strong social work identity.
For this role you need to be a social worker that is driven and passion to make that difference and work within a strong human rights framework to drive social justice and equal opportunity for people with mental health problems.
You will need to be a collaborative person with excellent communication, listening and interpersonal skills who uses their professional curiosity and inquisitive enquiry at every contact to promote person centred outcomes and wellbeing.
You will need to have a good knowledge base around ethical and legal literacy, and are you committed to continually learning & improving the way you do things to ensure effective outcomes.
You will need to be able to value and respect others’ contributions, be able to professional challenge when applicable and work within a ‘solutions focused’ and ‘can do approach’ within a specialist service area. This is a key essential to improve outcomes for adults experiencing poor mental health and to support their families within a think family approach.
Underpinned by your social work values and ethics you will need to be able to demonstrate knowledge of enablement service which aim to prevent, reduce and delay the need for crisis interventions (where possible), and care and support systems, be able to support risk enablement and positive risk taking whilst mitigation of preventable harm to self and/ or other using your legal and statutory knowledge.
You will need to be able to take ownership of your actions and strive to getting things right first time, be a reflective social worker and then apply this learning if/when things do go wrong; you will be able to be creative in terms of strengths based practice and innovation to resolve issues and change what you do and how you do it to make a difference.

Additional Information
* Flexibility will be required to work outside core hours as we offer support to our service users 7 days/week 9am-5pm (operated on a Rota system).
* You need to be registered as a social worker as part of the Social work England requirements.
* You will keep up to date with the relevant regulations, policy and legislation as per the Professional Capabilities Framework stipulated by Social Work England.
* You will be required to drive in this role
