Having entered production in June 2014, Mowi Feed has quickly established itself as a competitive supplier of salmon feed playing a key role in supporting Mowi Farming in its delivery of high quality, nutritious, safe and sustainable salmon.
Currently operating from its factories in Kyleakin, Isle of Skye in Scotland and in Valsneset in the Trøndelag Region of Norway, Mowi Feed has an annual production volume in the order of 500,000 tonnes per year. We manufacture a broad portfolio of conventional and organic feeds for both fresh and seawater phases of salmon growth in Scotland, Ireland, the Faroe Islands, Iceland and Norway.
The Role – MAINTENANCE ENGINEER (ELECTRICAL or MECHANICAL)
Mowi Fish Feed is seeking to recruit a suitable candidate to take on exciting and challenging tasks within an expansive, dynamic and international manufacturing environment. The feed plant runs 24/7-365 and the successful candidate will be required to participate in a rotating shift rota, including on call.
As a Maintenance Engineer with an electrical or mechanical bias the successful candidate will be working within and supporting the Engineering team and all the feed mill departments to continue the efficient operation of all process related equipment in a timely and constructive manner. The main duties and responsibilities undertaken will include:
* Following the company’s Health & Safety policies and procedures.
* Ensuring all maintenance jobs are carried out safely, observing site rules and required risk assessments.
* Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance tasks to maximise plant efficiency and minimise downtime;
* Carrying out fault diagnosis to identify problems with plant as they arise and action the solution.
* Ensuring systems are kept up to date and faults are entered into the maintenance management system.
* Ensuring accurate reporting of maintenance, equipment status, parts/consumables used and fault reports.
* Using expertise and training to support the resolution of process issues as they arise.
* Ensuring the engineering workshop and offices are all maintained and operate to a high standard (organised, clean & tidy), including your own work areas.
* Supporting the creation of written procedures and associated documents (SOPs, reports etc.) and report errors or where documents have become obsolete and need to be updated.
* Ensuring all work is carried out in line with site policies and procedures.
* Supporting and contributing to a continuous improvement quality culture.
* Adhering to a Personal Development Plan as agreed with the Facilities Manager.
Desirable Qualifications/Skills for this role:
* Good understanding of health, safety and environmental protocols and experience undertaking risk assessments and exercising risk reduction measures
* 17th/18th Edition
* SVQ/NVQ level 3 Qualification
* BTEC or City and Guild trained / apprenticeship or equivalent
* Higher education in electrical or mechanical engineering fields to HNC or HND level
* Experience in production, manufacturing, maintenance or servicing environments
* Experience with PLC's, 24VDC control systems, 3 phase motor drives, VFD’s and SCADA systems
* Hands on, mechanical/electrical servicing/diagnosis
* Experience working with asset/maintenance management software, controlled work permit systems and following procedure
* Proficient computer skills (experience of Microsoft applications minimum)
* Good interpersonal skills, able to work alone and/or as part of a team
* Driving licence, or willingness to undertake lessons and obtain this

The place of work will be the Mowi Fish Feed Plant at Kyleakin on the Isle of Skye, and the position reports to the Facilities Manager.
