This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for. Job Description Do you have a passion for UK & EU Export Control legislation? Are excited by the opportunity to shape and define some of the biggest and complex defence programmes in the UK today? You will be responsible for liaising with businesses to ensure correct and accurate clearance instructions can be issued to import agent/import broker and instructing freight agent/importer broker in accordance with business requirements. Your role will also involve checking import clearance information provided by import agent/broker to ensure DE&S Deca instructions have been followed. Another area of your role will be looking at submission of export declarations to UK HMRC in accordance with UK regulations and company procedures. This will include checking customs entries following goods departure and address anomalies (with reference to site Trade Compliance lead). Along with identifying corrective action when errors are noted (with reference to site Trade Compliance lead) and ensuring all conditions on export licence are complied with including, new applications End User Statements and End of Year return. What you’ll be doing Become a Subject Matter Expert in US export control regulations/legislation which determine the way in which US origin military technology is managed in the UK and can have serious impacts on defence business if they are not managed appropriately. Be a key POC and provide DE&S and wider MOD with quality and timely advice, guidance and practical assistance across a range of complex export control issues that affect defence business. Develop strong relationships both with internal DE&S and MOD stakeholders and with export control counterparts in industry and the US regulators. Responsible for the coordination and the delivery of US export controls training within DE&S and wider MOD. Provide support, advice and guidance to DE&S and wider MOD with regards to the identification of export-controlled articles it holds. Proactively engage with DE&S and wider MOD to conduct regular assurance and governance reviews against MOD policy to identify any issues and areas of concern and to ensure that policy is being complied with. Conduct regular reviews of US export control policy, training and assurance processes to ensure regulatory changes are accommodated for and that MOD policy remains up to date and fit for purpose. Person specification To be successful with your application, you'll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria : Demonstrate Knowledge of UK & EU Export Control legislation as well as awareness of US EAR & ITAR regulations. Minimum of Chartered Logistics Technician or equivalent Experience of managing Freight Forwarder and shipping electronic components internationally.
