An opportunity has opened to join the award-winning Sustainable Strathclyde team. You will have the opportunity to influence the University’s strategic direction on Net Zero, and lead the streamlining of monitoring and reporting processes undertaken by the team. You will be responsible for gathering and reporting data on the University’s climate action related activities, and work with colleagues to monitor and manage climate risk across the University. This is an exciting role, with the opportunity to work with internal and external stakeholders to help deliver on the University’s strategic plan (Strathclyde 2030), the Scottish Government’s climate change and biodiversity duties and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
You will be agile working with some of your time on campus and some of your time working from home. Our team have access to hot desking space in the heart of our city centre campus, overlooking the beautiful Rottenrow Gardens in the Learning and Teaching building. The Sustainable Performance Manager is responsible to the Head of Sustainable Resources and Social Responsibility and manages the process of monitoring and reporting progress against the University’s net zero and interim targets. You will work closely and collaboratively with Sustainable Strathclyde and University colleagues who are responsible for resource use, energy, waste management; sustainable supply chain and sustainability engagement.
You will be responsible for managing and improving the University’s greenhouse gas inventory and climate change reporting, and looking for opportunities to improve data quality, particularly with regard to scope 3 emissions.
You will work closely with colleagues in Strategy and Planning on the development of live Net Zero dashboards and analytics, which feed into various internal and external reporting streams. You will also work closely with the Centre for Sustainable Development, on the monitoring and reporting of sustainability activities in our curriculum, research and knowledge exchange.
We are looking for candidates who are passionate about climate action and working with others to respond to complex challenges. You will have a strong understanding of sustainability, Net Zero and ESG issues within a large organisation, and ideally experience of sustainability data analysis, reporting and carbon accounting. Experience of using programmes such as excel and PowerBI to manage sustainability data is desirable.
