Location: Barnsley (UK) Supply Chain Manager, Cullet business Cullet is the business unit that provides crushed glass for recycling to both our glass microspheres business and other customers. In our Barnsley facilities, where we employ around 20 people, recycling glass is collected, processed and delivered to customers. Reporting to the Operations Plant Manager, the role will manage cullet suppliers (280) and organize transport, both cullet to the plant and clean glass to the customers. This includes the health and safety of drivers, contract negotiations and transport optimization of containers (500) as well as compliance to legal requirements. Primary Functions and Responsibilities Takes primary responsibility for overall health, safety and environment (HSE) performance for the function: communicates, promotes and personally demonstrates HSE is first priority; develops and completes HSE action plans for improvements. Negotiates cullet contracts with current and new suppliers. Oversees and optimizes the day to day of the transport and collections. Negotiates price p/t with haulage companies for delivery of product. Investigates new ways to dispose of waste streams, finding new and cheaper alternatives. Investigates new cullet supply, not just from waste double glazing manufactures but from alternative sources. Negotiates the cost of new vehicles for the transport business and the plant machinery for cullet production. Manages the overall day-to-day operations for the cullet collections to assure optimum utilization of personnel and trucks. Gives support on annual budgets preparation. Meets performance objectives and tracks progress regularly. Takes corrective action as needed. Manages all personnel issues and concerns under his/her supervision. Actively promotes Potters vision, mission, and values with Drivers, outside vendors, and customers Qualifications and Experience Professional Diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics or related fields. Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role. Directly applicable experience with both suppliers and vehicles fleet’s management. Experience in logistics/transport requirements in the UK. Strong awareness of safety principles, as well as knowledge on environmental regulations and compliance. Willingness to travel extensively within the UK. Must have excellent analytical and problem solving capabilities as well as negotiations skills. Ability to work across all functions and levels of the organization. Responsive, proactive and able to lead processes. Proficient in MS Office package.
