We are currently partnered with a renewable investor who are searching for a Grid Manager. This person will oversee multiple different renewable technologies and will have the opportunity to work on projects in the UK as well as other European projects if they are interested.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with various internal teams, including Development, Investment & Execution, and external advisors, to assess potential asset acquisitions, with a focus on grid connection due diligence. This includes identifying associated risks and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies, and supporting the valuation of assets.
* Maintain active engagement with grid connection stakeholders throughout all phases of project development, from early stages through to construction and operation.
* Ensure that grid connection activities align with project timelines by working closely with EPC, Project Delivery, and Development teams, as well as project partners.
* Liaise with Asset Management to ensure ongoing compliance with grid connection agreements, assist in the coordination of grid maintenance activities, and align project maintenance schedules with power hedging strategies.
* Keep abreast of developments in grid connection policy and regulations at both the transmission and distribution levels within GB, and communicate relevant updates within the organization.
Candidate Profile:
* Deep knowledge of the GB grid connection process, including grid codes and technical standards for connecting generation assets to transmission and distribution networks.
* Familiarity with UK energy market regulations, such as the Electricity Act, Grid Code, and Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC), as well as ongoing grid reform initiatives.
* Extensive recent experience managing grid connection processes in the UK, covering all stages from application to operation, and coordinating with a range of stakeholders including developers, NGESO, NGET, DNOs, and regulatory bodies.
* Strong project management capabilities, including expertise in budgeting, scheduling, and risk management, as well as hands-on experience with grid-related matters like G99 applications and connection cost assessments.
* A proven background in the renewable energy sector, with a focus on project development (at least 5-10 years of experience).
* Relevant degree-level qualification and strong analytical skills to navigate commercial and regulatory challenges in grid connection projects.
* An understanding of power systems, including network planning, electrical design, load flow analysis, and fault level calculations.
* A proactive, self-motivated approach, coupled with a commitment to finding more efficient ways to achieve objectives.
* Keen interest in the energy investment sector and broader energy market trends.
* Precision, attention to detail, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Integrity, honesty, and a flexible attitude, with a readiness to adapt to the evolving needs of the business.
