This is an exciting opportunity for qualified Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) or Children & Young People's Wellbeing Practitioners (CYWPs) to join our Mental Health Services Team (MHST) working with schools across Liverpool. From April 24 2024, EMHPs will be required to be registered with either British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
We are also open to applications from from qualified nurses, social workers and occupational therapists along with experienced children and young people's wellbeing practitioners and individuals who can provide a completed knowledge, skills and attitudes (KSA) portfolio.
We are looking for individuals who have skills and experience in engaging families who are from communities that may be at increased risk of social exclusion or marginalisation. Postholders will work as part of an integrated multi-disciplinary team. They will act as case managers for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health problems and deliver evidence-based interventions alongside or under supervision of senior CAMHS practitioners.
Main duties of the job
1. Working as a member of an integrated multi-disciplinary team providing comprehensive assessment of children, young people and families. Planning, implementing and evaluating interventions to address identified needs.
2. To work alongside partner agencies to offer Whole School Approach (WSA)
3. Acting as case manager for children and young peoplewith mild to moderate mental health problems.
4. Delivering evidence-based interventions in a group format alongside or under supervision of senior CAMHS practitioners.
5. Monitoring risk and supporting children and young people who present with more severe problems to rapidly access assessment and intervention from senior CAMHS practitioners.
6. Promoting the safeguarding and welfare of children and young people.
7. Adhering to Trust policies and procedures and the legislative framework in which children's mental health care is delivered.

Alder Hey MHST is part of the Education Mental Health Team within the Liverpool CAMHS; and North and South Sefton Partnership. MHST covers both Liverpool and Sefton and currently has links with around 200 schools.

8. Assess, plan and deliver outcome focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
9. Work in partnership to support children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and their parents/carers, families and educators in the self-management of presenting difficulties.
10. Support children, young people, their parents/carers and families to make informed choices about the interventions being offered.
11. Work in partnership with children, young people, their families and educators in the development of plans for the intervention and agreed outcomes. Encourage collaboration and co-production when agreeing plans of care.
12. Undertake risk assessments and develop clear risk management plans in line with Trust policy and locally agreed procedures including safeguarding protocols of Education settings. Ensure accurate recording of risk and risk management plans.
13. Through locally agreed pathways escalate cases in which level of risk is beyond the scope of practice of the post holder.
14. Engage along with more senior staff in the signposting of referrals for children and young people with more complex needs to the relevant practitioner or service.
15. Practice, evidence, reflect on and demonstrate an ability to manage ones own caseload in conjunction with the requirements of the team.
16. Attend multi-disciplinary and multi-agency meetings relating to referrals or children and young people in treatment, where appropriate, both for personal educational benefit in discussion with senior leaders, or to provide direct assistance.
17. Keep timely and coherent records of all clinical and whole school approach activity in line with both health and education service protocols and use these records and outcome data to inform decision making.
18. Complete all requirements relating to data collection.
19. Show evidence of working within a collaborative approach, involving a range of relevant others when indicated.
20. Contribute to the development of individual or group clinical materials or training materials and go on to develop further such materials as falls within own degree of competence
Person Specification
Qualifications, Experience and Training
Essential
21. Degree level qualification and/or equivalent experience in a child and family related field social work, youth and community work, nursing
22. Ability to assess plan and implement patient plans of care with regular supervision.
23. Ability to develop therapeutic relationships
24. Knowledge of child development including adolescence.
25. To be able to work independently with young people presenting at risk but being aware to maintain this within the bounds of your responsibility accessing supervision if required out of the formal structure.

Knowledge and Skills
Essential
27. Experience of working with families with mental health problems.
28. Knowledge of behavioural based interventions.
29. An understanding of the specific needs of people from different ethnic backgrounds and an understanding of those with disabilities.
30. Skilled in the communication of sensitive issues and have an awareness of child protection issues and understand the bounds of confidentiality.
