We are recruiting on behalf of a technology Company based in Wokingham, and they are seeking an Embedded Applications Engineer to join their talented team. This role includes visiting customer sites to support Sales Engineers with demonstrations and technical knowledge.

About the role
As an Embedded Applications Engineer you will join their Embedded team and reporting to the Technical Manager, you will provide a high quality, timely design, support and integration service to customers and you’ll work as part of a highly technical design team of support engineers.

2. The purpose of the Embedded Applications Engineers’ role is to contribute to the revenue and profit targets by providing solutions to our customers through design-in of franchised products
3. The role will also be responsible for the preparation of design and build documentation, prototype manufacturing and to provide additional procedures to eliminate post sales quality issues
About the responsibilities
In the role of Embedded Applications Engineer, your main duties and accountabilities will be:
4. Advising and supporting the Sales team with technical sales queries
5. Assisting and advising customers on solutions to help them achieve their goals
6. Creation and maintenance of build and test documentation
7. Hands on build and repair
8. Provide guidance to internal and external customers including upselling to maximise opportunities
9. Provide product training to other team members such as Engineers, Customer Service and Technology Centre
10. First line fault-find and work with customer for No Fault Found
11. Work with suppliers to identify and repair faulty product
12. Test product after return from repair
13. Work with product manufacturer to fix design issues and procure advanced replacement stock
14. Provide detailed technical reports to customers and suppliers to assist with issues that are difficult to pinpoint and resolve
15. Provide procedures to customers to resolve product integration issues, e.g. how to correctly instal com-express onto customers carrier
16. Provide custom BIOS updates to customer to meet with updated requirements
About you
To be successful for the role of Embedded Applications Engineer you will have the followig skills and attributes:
Qualifications & Knowledge
17. Embedded computing knowledge – PC H/W, PCI, cPCI, COMe, S/W, BIOS, EFI, drivers, disk drives, USB, etc
18. Some knowledge of legacy technologies (VME, PC/104, as well as RTOS, Linux and Windows O/S) would be an advantage
19. An appropriate qualification in engineering would also be desirable. Strong trouble shooting skills. Familiar with both hardware and software
Skills & Experience
20. Previous hands-on experience in building and repairing PCs
21. Adept with real time operating systems, software such as Windows, Ubuntu, and Linux, driver support and writing basic drivers
22. Re-flashing BIOS/EFI, working with customer and supplier to diagnose and propose solutions
23. Exceptional customer service and communication skills

About the hours & rewards
