Job Summary
We're looking for a brilliant person with a strong interest in creative community arts who likes making exciting, creative things happen and supporting people to develop with ideas, skills and creativity. Fixed term until March 31st 2026 with possible extension.
Job Description
We envisage that around 60% of the role will be producing and overseeing the producing of events and around 40% will be to provide assistance to the Director in the leadership of the team and delivery.
Producing
The post-holder will:
* Produce community arts events and projects across Barrow and be responsible for delivery of these projects including overseeing the work of others;
* Where appropriate/needed, oversee the producing work of other team members and freelancers;
* Oversee monitoring and evaluation of projects;
* Manage projects' timelines and milestone reporting including making verbal and written reports about the projects' progress;
* Ensure audiences' access needs are met;
* Work to develop relationships and forge strong networks with communities and artists;
Assisting the Creative Director
The post-holder will:
* Assist the Creative Director in leading BarrowFull, delivering on its annual Business Plan and Arts Council England Creative People and Places remit;
* On occasion, deputise for the Creative Director at stakeholder meetings, events, etc. including engaging with high level partners/stakeholders including Arts Council England; local, regional and national authorities and councils; funders and business partners;
* Have an overview of the programme's budget; manage individual project budgets and be accountable for spend;
* Contribute to, and in some instances lead on, fundraising efforts;
* Take on line-management responsibilities as requested by the Creative Director when relevant or needed;
* Build relationships with local organisations and adhere to their protocols and systems;
Job Requirements
What you'll bring to the role:
* At least six years' relevant professional experience and a readiness for the challenge of this exciting new role in the Barrow area.
* Evidenced excellent communication skills that can be applied within a community development context to engage and work with people from very different backgrounds as well as those working with them, including professionals in healthcare, education, local government, business and tourism.
* Understanding of, and empathy with, the needs of the communities and artists engaged in this long-term programme.
