Location: Cambridge, Hybrid (minimum 2 days in the office)
Contract: Permanent, Full time
We are Cambridge University Press & Assessment, a world-leading academic publisher and assessment organisation and a proud part of the University of Cambridge.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a current/previous teacher or assessment professional to continue working in education and pursuing academic potential around the world.
About the role
You will be a subject specialist in Physics or Science subjects and will be managing a portfolio of syllabuses and signing off the exams that our students sit every series. You will also provide multi-skilled support across the Physics & General Science team and manage syllabuses and question paper production across a range of Science subjects.
From working with development colleagues to manage the design of our syllabuses, you will then manage the lifecycle of a portfolio of syllabuses. You will oversee the production of all assessment materials associated with the syllabuses to ensure their successful delivery for learners. When not creating and signing off exams, you will work on grading, setting the thresholds that our learners are held to and planning future series.
Working as part of Cambridge University, we work to incredibly high standards. All our question papers need to be 100% accurate and error free. Every paper must assess what we say it assesses, and the grade thresholds that you set have to provide a reliable indication for employers and universities around the world of candidates' mastery of the subject.
Working with a range of stakeholders, you will manage the recruitment of our Assessment Specialists, including Setters, Revisers, Vetters, and Assistant Examiners. You will manage their allocation of work, performance, and succession planning. You will work closely with our ministry customers around the world as you work collaboratively with them to develop and revise our syllabuses.
About you
We are looking for you to have a degree in Physics or a Science subject with Physics content. Experience in a Science subject teaching will also be an advantage. Your standard of English will be very high, and you will have a strong knowledge of assessment in an education setting. You will have spent some time in the classroom as a teacher and may have a knowledge of international education.
A post-graduate qualification in educational assessment or project management or examining experience would be highly desirable.
