We have an exciting opportunity for a technically strong Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our Engineering team. Working as part of our highly trained and experienced Engineering team, our technicians play an essential role to ensure that our production plant operates daily by conducting planned preventative maintenance and responding to emergency break downs in a fast-paced manufacturing plant.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Well-being policies/procedures to deliver a safety-first culture.
2. Understanding root cause-based analysis and culture to deliver high quality solutions.
3. Undertake repairs, servicing, and maintenance of a wide range of production plant and machinery to the highest standard with work requests and pre-determine specifications.
4. Carry out scheduled planned maintenance on various heavy plant equipment.
5. Fault finding, testing and the removal or adjustment of existing fittings, fixtures, and parts.
6. Assist the Maintenance Team to ensure that adequate stock levels are maintained for all spare part lists and ensure that all necessary records are completed accurately and participate in stock control.
7. Adhere to existing working practices, methods, procedures, undertake relevant training and development activities and respond positively to new and alternative systems.
8. Maintain collaborative working practices, building strong relationships with all internal stakeholders. Work closely with Production to prioritise daily workload and plant maintenance.
9. Respond to breakdowns with urgency to minimise downtime which may require working outside of core hours or weekends.
10. Follow a high-quality preventative maintenance schedule to reduce downtime and achieve optimal levels of capacity and efficiency.
11. IT literate to ensure the correct completion of maintenance database systems.
12. Demonstrate resiliency and ambition to build and drive long-term engineering excellence.
13. Act as an ambassador for our company values and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
14. Any other duties as required by management.
Essential Criteria:
1. 3rd level qualification in Engineering or similar.
2. HND/HNC in Mechanical Engineering, and/or time served Mechanical background.
3. A minimum of 3 years’ experience gained in a manufacturing environment, or similar role.
4. Experience working with servicing, repairs, and maintenance of plant machinery.
5. Knowledge of current H&S legislation.
6. Understanding root cause analysis & fault-finding experience on heavy plant machinery & systems.
7. Ability to read, interpret and apply information from files, mechanical drawings, catalogues, reports, and manuals.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Control & Automation systems experience.
2. Inverter drives, HMIs, and PLCs (preferably Siemens).
3. Mechanical drive systems.
4. Pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
5. LEAN methodologies experience.
