We are looking to appoint a qualified and experienced CAMHS Therapist (e.g., Clinical Psychologist/Nurse/Family Therapist/Child Psychotherapist/Social Worker) to the post based in the Barnet Enhanced Support Team at Barnet CAMHS.
The Barnet Enhanced Support Team is a specialist multi-disciplinary CAMHS team that provides psychiatric and therapeutic intervention for high-risk and challenging adolescents (aged 13-18) from across the borough of Barnet. This team focuses on deliberate self-harm, suicidal intent, severe mental health difficulties, and those from complex families who may have suffered abuse or trauma.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be based in the Barnet CAMHS team premises at Holly Oak, Edgware Community Hospital, with other team members and will have access to support from the team administrators. The work is with young people and families who present with high risk to themselves and/or others. The team will provide rapid, flexible, and accessible services to address urgent and acute problems facing young people, with a particular focus on self-harm and severe mental health crises.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must have:
* Experience of working clinically with young people with acute mental health issues in NHS settings.
* Confidence to work independently in community clinic-based and outreach environments.
* Experience of working with the professional network around the young person.
* Ability to use own initiative and work as part of a team.
* Registration with a recognised professional body.
Person specification
Education and Qualifications
* Qualification at degree level or equivalent and registration with relevant professional body (clinical/counselling psychology, psychotherapy, systemic family psychotherapy, social work, nursing, occupational therapy).
* Relevant training in child and adolescent mental health.
Experience and Knowledge
* Experience of clinical and risk assessment and treatment of children and young people across various care settings.
* Experience of working in CAMHS and with children, young people, and their families.
* Knowledge of current issues for adolescent mental health.
Skills and Abilities
* Evidence of well-developed clinical skills and knowledge in CAMHS.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Good computer skills and knowledge of patient management systems.
Other Requirements
* Essential car driver; willingness to drive for work purposes.
References will be required to cover your last 3 years of employment/training.
