This school provides education for young people across South Somerset who are unable to access their mainstream school. This may be for social and emotional reasons, for medical or mental health reasons, or because they have been Permanently Excluded. They strive to ensure students are not disadvantaged, and work tirelessly to ensure that their academic outcomes and long-term life chances are not affected by attending a PRU for part of their education.
We are looking for a dedicated individual to provide tailored support to our students. You will be committed to making a positive difference to young people’s lives and in supporting and developing their learning.
Key attributes for this role are:
* Experience of supporting children or young people with mental health difficulties, ADHD, Autism or other behavioural difficulties
* High expectations of children's progress, attainment, and behaviour.
* The ability to use your own initiative, focusing on solving problems.
* Patience, empathy and good communication skills.
* Organisation and resourcefulness, the ability to work under pressure with good time management skills and a sense of humour.
* An understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to build positive relationships.
* Has emotional resilience in working with challenging behaviours and attitudes.

Working hours are 08:30 - 16:30. There is opportunity for permanent employment for the right candidate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
