An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an experienced and motivated individual in the post of ICT Operations Service Manager for a period of 6 months on a secondment basis.
The successful candidate will manage and develop the provision of ICT support services and an effective ICT estate used by over 8500 staff across 78 sites in a busy 24-hour acute emergency care environment.
You will be part of a large and experienced Health Informatics Department which has a record of implementing new and exciting technologies to support the delivery of business and clinical services.
You will be highly experienced in managing the delivery of ICT Support to a large and diverse user base, both user-facing and back-end infrastructure.
Reporting to the Head of ICT, and working closely with the Infrastructure Services Manager, you will have management responsibility for the development and provision of ICT Services across the Trust.
This post has a requirement to perform on-call as part of a rota.
Main duties of the job
1. Lead on the development and maintenance of ICT support and procurement services across the Trust.
2. Support the development of the Trust's strategic approach to the implementation of ICT services.
3. Manage the provision of ICT support services across the Trust.
4. Act as an escalation point for complex problems from within the ICT Team.
5. Management of computer room, datacentre facilities.
6. Ensure effective customer service to ICT users across the Trust.
7. Issue advice and guidance on complex ICT issues to service users and IT staff.
8. Deputise for the Head of ICT.
Job responsibilities
The role involves leading the development, maintenance, and management of the Trust's ICT support service as well as elements of the Trust's ICT infrastructure and IT Security.
The position manages a team of approximately 25 staff, supporting approximately 9000 Trust users.
Key responsibilities include managing budgets (capital and revenue) and providing 2nd and 3rd line technical support for complex ICT issues. The role involves deputising for the Head of ICT, participating in on-call rotas, and maintaining security across a number of ICT systems.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to degree level or equivalent qualifications or experience in relevant subjects and fields, with at least 5 years supporting and managing ICT environments.
* Relevant industry standard qualifications.
* ITIL Awareness or certification.
Experience
* 5 years management experience at a senior level.
* Experience in the provision of a complex data and voice infrastructure, using a number of different and interconnected technologies.
* Experience in the provision and management of an enterprise class IT security platform.
* Wide experience of health service operations and health informatics.
Special Skills and Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of networking hardware and software tools, including datacentre technologies.
* Knowledge and understanding of virtual server environments.
* Specialist technical knowledge of best practice in the field.
