Electrical Safety Senior Test Engineer Ref. 939

This role is available full-time for 37 hours per week. Flexible or compressed working patterns available.

Working in our advanced manufacturing facility, you will use your existing skills and experience within a team of manufacturing engineers working on projects critical to protecting national security.
You will use your skills and knowledge in areas such as:
1. Consultation with design engineers
2. Evaluation of products and documentation to the applicable test standards
3. Writing and reviewing evaluation reports
4. Mentoring less experienced colleagues
No two days are the same. One day you could be diagnosing a fault, the next you could be providing a design engineer with advice on creepage and clearage.
You will have hands-on involvement in evaluating products for use in a wide range of scenarios from small, compact, individual devices to large, rack-mounted systems.

More About You
To apply for this role, you will already have:
1. Extensive experience in product safety testing
2. A broad understanding of safety engineering and assurance principles
3. Experience and knowledge in two or more electrical safety standards e.g. BS EN 62368, BS EN 61010, BS EN 60335
4. IT skills; particularly in Microsoft Office applications
To strengthen your application, it would be beneficial if you also have:
1. Experience of safety critical function design/development of electrical products
2. An understanding of different certification schemes
3. The ability to fault find down to component level
4. 18th Edition wiring regulations qualified

Putting your skills to use
Using your diverse range of skills within the electrical safety team, you will:
1. Complete electrical safety evaluations and reports
2. Evaluate products and documentation to ensure they meet the requirements of applicable test standards
3. Ensure evaluations are completed to standard and within set timescales
4. Liaise with design engineers to provide the latest advice on standards, techniques, and components
5. Support the development of less experienced team members through mentoring and coaching
6. Utilise your knowledge of processes and standards to develop and build the capability
