TITLE: Therapist- Therapeutic Visitation Program
REPORTS TO: Clinical Supervisor
HOURS: Full Time, Non-Exempt. Monday-Friday, 9-5:30pm; evening availability may be required based on client need.
SALARY: $25.47-28.01/hr
JOB SUMMARY: The TVP Therapist provides child-focused counseling to children and their parents impacted by maltreatment, neglect, attachment disruption, loss, separation, high conflict divorce and custody and histories of trauma within the context of supervised visitation. Goals are developed to promote healing and support the well-being of the child within the family system. Attachment theory and psychodynamic theoretical underpinnings are woven into a variety of evidenced based and trauma informed practices. Therapist will provide support to program interns, by way of informal training, opportunity for observation and partnering, and as-needed guidance. As part of role, Therapist may be required to co-facilitate a weekly 12-week parenting group followed by a group visitation experience (PREPARE). Therapists are expected to advance their professional knowledge and skills by attending relevant workshops and seminars to aid in career development.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Contacting and connecting with referral source and involved parties to schedule and conduct orientation sessions with assigned case participants (both parents/caregivers and child(ren) prior to the start of therapeutic visitation services.)
2. Assess when the family system is ready to begin therapeutic visits/exchanges; schedule additional individual child or parent sessions as needed prior (or concurrently) to scheduling dyadic visits.
3. Provide therapy to the child(ren) and identified parent during therapeutic visits.
4. Provide informal and limited individual therapeutic support and conflict mediation to custodial/visiting parents.
5. Maintaining all aspects of the assigned (i.e., intake, assessment, developing treatment goals, providing therapeutic sessions, preparing reports, maintaining files, communicating with collaterals, writing treatment reports, testifying in court, etc.)
6. In collaboration with Clinical Supervisor, utilize the program’s equitable caseload guide to monitor caseload in relation to hours worked per week.
7. Maintaining communication with pertinent outside parties involved with each case (caseworkers, attorneys, other therapists, etc.)
8. Maintaining confidential case files regarding contact with families, which meets the expectations of the program and agency.
9. Prepare written court reports prior to the required due date for review and feedback from supervisor.
10. Provide case management, safety planning, advocacy/support and referrals when needed.
11. Provide program interns with support by informal training, opportunity for observation and partnering, and as-needed guidance.
12. Co-facilitate PREPARE cohorts as needed.
13. Infant Mental Health, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Play Therapy, or Creative Arts Therapy experience preferred.
14. Other duties as assigned by the TVP Clinical Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or a related field, with at least two years clinical experience working with children and families. Must be licensed or license eligible; Infant Mental Health Endorsed or Endorsement eligible preferred. Applicant must be familiar with the psycho-social aspects of child maltreatment, neglect, trauma, and high-conflict custody. Infant-Parent Psychotherapy, Child-Parent Psychotherapy, Play Therapy, or Creative Arts Therapy experience preferred. Excellent verbal and writing skills are required. Candidate must demonstrate commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work and delivering services with a trauma-informed and equity lens. The selected candidate will continuously be expected to advance his/her professional knowledge and skills by attending relevant workshops and seminars and must demonstrate the commitment and ability to perform as a competent child-focused therapist.
