While the carers group is taking place, a separate group exists for those people with a dementia diagnosis. It is this part of the group that you will be supporting, enabling people with dementia to take part in a variety of activities. It is a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Your role will be to assist the Group Facilitator by welcoming people to the group and supporting people with dementia to participate in activities. You will help set up the room in readiness for those attending the group, helping to place tables and chairs and also make hot and cold drinks. The session lasts one and a half hours but you will be expected to arrive half an hour prior to the start to prepare for the group and stay half an hour after the end of the group to tidy away and take part in a debrief. Equal Opportunities We’re a national charity providing dementia support to a community that’s ethnically diverse, but we don’t reflect this in our senior leadership. This needs to change. We need to ensure the voices around our table better reflect and understand the community we exist to serve. We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, particularly those from ethnically diverse communities who are traditionally underrepresented in the charity sector leadership roles. We want everyone we work with, as a colleague, volunteer, supporter, or someone we support, to feel included and that they belong at Alzheimer's Society. We are committed to building a diverse organisation that represents the communities we serve and ensuring inclusion in everything we do. During your recruitment process we want to make sure that you bring your whole self and be at your best.
