Our public sector client is seeking a proactive and experienced Waste Supervisor to oversee the effective management of waste collection operations, street cleansing services, household recycling centers, and related activities. Key Responsibilities for the Waste Supervisor:
1. Operational Management: Oversee day-to-day waste collection operations, street cleansing services, and recycling centers, ensuring a high standard of service delivery.
2. Team Supervision: Manage and support operational staff, including conducting performance reviews, organizing training sessions, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
3. Budget and Resources: Assist with financial management, including budget planning, equipment maintenance, and processing invoices. Monitor operational performance to optimize resource allocation.
4. Incident and Disciplinary Management: Investigate vehicle accidents and disciplinary matters, producing detailed reports and liaising with HR as required.
5. Compliance and Risk: Conduct risk assessments, method statements, and toolbox talks. Ensure all operations adhere to health and safety standards and legal requirements.
6. Customer Service: Engage with the community and stakeholders to address concerns, enhance service delivery, and contribute to the council's community planning process.
7. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvement, ensuring operations meet and exceed industry standards.
Essential Skills and Experience:
1. Relevant Experience: Minimum of 2 years in waste operations, including managing operational employees, facilities, and equipment.
2. Supervisory Skills: Experience leading teams, conducting investigations, and managing grievances or disciplinary processes.
3. Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of waste management operations and associated technologies.
4. Qualifications: Degree in a relevant subject (e.g., Environmental Management) or equivalent experience. Membership in a professional body is advantageous.
5. Organizational Skills: Strong ability to prioritize and manage tasks effectively to meet strict deadlines.
