Our Commercial team maintains strong relationships with brokers across the UK through a strategic combination of technical underwriting expertise and responsive service. Due to our ongoing success, we are recruiting an Underwriter based in Manchester to support our regional expansion. Duties and Responsibilities
* Develop the regional portfolio by exploring opportunities with existing partners and establishing new relationships.
* Perform detailed account analysis following underwriting guidelines, including reviewing applications, assessing risk management protocols, conducting online research, and liaising with other departments to understand risk exposures.
* Make referrals as needed with relevant contacts.
* Ensure timely and accurate issuance of policies.
* Collaborate with the wider Commercial Division to develop and execute strategic business plans.
* Authorize quotes, binders, and invoices in line with company policies.
* Maintain organized underwriting files according to guidelines.
* Participate in marketing activities such as client/broker meetings, social events, and industry conferences.
Qualifications
* 3-5 years of demonstrated experience underwriting commercial combined or property insurance.
* Strong analytical skills and knowledge of pricing, actuarial models, and methods.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with clients and brokers, delivering presentations, and building relationships.
* Proven marketing and business development capabilities, with commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
* Advanced proficiency in MS Office and underwriting systems.
* Methodical, organized, and able to handle tight deadlines and conflicting priorities.
* Team-oriented with a collaborative approach and mentoring skills for junior staff.
