We're looking for an engaging leader to take on the newly created Driver Operations Manager role at Scarborough depot. Reporting to the Regional Driver Manager, you'll be responsible for ensuring we have the right number of drivers at Scarborough depot to deliver the train plan. This includes leading a team of drivers, maintaining their competency to the highest standards, and overseeing local safety, performance, and HR activities. To be successful, it's essential you hold a current train driving competency with at least three years of driving experience. A current assessor qualification would be desirable but not essential. Above all, we're looking for a natural leader who listens, engages, and works together with drivers, unions, and stakeholders to create a positive and high performing team culture. Key Responsibilities? Leadership & People Management. To lead and support a team of drivers, ensuring they feel valued and heard. Manage driver competency assessments and training plans to maintain high operational standards. Oversee all HR activities, including return to work meetings, absence management, disciplinaries, and grievances. Monitor driver fatigue. Build and maintain strong relationships with unions, resolving issues promptly. Drive a strong safety culture, striving to prevent operational incidents. Investigate incidents and accidents promptly, sharing key learnings across the business. Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, including emergency preparedness, depot inspections, and audits. Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration. To work closely with internal teams, including train planning, control, and customer experience, to optimise performance. Represent TPE at external meetings with Network Rail, local councils, rail user groups, and regulatory bodies. What We're Looking For? A qualified train driver with at least three years of driving experience. A current assessor qualification (desirable but not essential). Proven leadership skills with the ability to engage and motivate a team. Strong stakeholder management, including experience working with unions. Excellent organisational and decision making skills.
