We have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Management Accountant to join the MOJ Finance Team on a full time, permanent basis.
This role will be based in Leyland and will offer hybrid working with occasional travel.
Covering 63 sites with a contract worth circa £175m, you will be responsible for assisting with the producing and reporting of the management accounts. You will work closely with the finance team, focusing specifically on P&L robustness and supporting projects where applicable.
The standard hours of work are based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday.
Your Responsibilities:
* Communicating with contract-based staff to resolve queries as they arise.
* Producing and developing management reporting, understanding trends and providing meaningful information to enable management action to be taken to address areas requiring improvement.
* Providing assistance and support to commercial management through expert data organisation skills utilising pivot tables, lookup formulas, sumifs formulas, data sort and file links.
* Building effective relationships with functional areas and site-based teams to provide a reliable point of contact for all aspects of data integrity and financial reporting.
* Ensuring the integrity of financial transaction information held within SAP.
* Utilising SAP transaction detail and data manipulation skills to produce quality information to non-financial operational management.
* Assisting with the production of the monthly management accounts.
* Assisting with the production of the monthly site profit and loss accounts by ensuring the robustness of cost allocations.
* Preparing and posting month end journals including WIP, Revenue, provisions, accruals and prepayments.
* Ensuring contract costs are controlled with robust procedures in place.
* Pro-actively addressing issues and anomalies with finance, commercial and operations colleagues, explaining financial terminology to those with non-finance backgrounds.
* Ensuring balance sheet reconciliations are completed and key variances are understood and resolved, including appropriate audit trail and support.
* Raising and issuing client invoices, utilising the client AFP data, including chasing of cash receipts and providing updates to the senior management and treasury teams.

* Experience in a similar role within accounts.
* A degree in either Maths or Finance is desirable or working towards finance qualifications.
* Excellent IT Skills including SAP and Excel.
* Ability to work towards strict deadlines.
* Ability to work comfortably with numbers, with commercial awareness.
* Excellent communication and organisational skills.
* High level of attention to detail.
