Assistant Merchandiser - Maternity Cover
We are looking to appoint an Assistant Merchandiser to join our Buying and Merchandising Team based at our Head Office, Lancaster Way Business Park, Ely. This role is for a fixed term period between 12 and 15 months to cover maternity leave.

Responsibilities:
* Provide weekly summary of key performance indicators within departments of responsibility and the wider business, relating to sales, stock, profit, versus budget and last year.
* Key contact for all analysis relating to departments of responsibility.
* Maintain weekly stock sales and intake forecasts, drive sales and minimise risks and communicate with the warehouse for short term work flow planning.
* Planning weekly intake with the wider team. Liaising with suppliers to ensure all stock requirements are met.
* Work with the team to control branch stock levels, allocations and replenishment to branches as required.
* Provide analysis and summary of markdown and promotional activity for departments of responsibility and wider business.
* Responsible for ensuring that markdowns are on the system in line with the markdown calendar.
* Responsible for calculating ratios, raising orders and processing any amends on the system, as well as keeping internal records fully up to date.
* In season trading under direction of the Merchandiser.
The ideal candidate will have/be:
* Highly numerate and analytical with excellent attention to detail.
* Demonstrates a commercial mindset, using data to support ideas.
* PC literate, including Outlook and Excel is essential. Previous database experience would be advantageous but full training on internal systems will be provided.
* Strong organisational and multi-tasking skills. Able to manage a high and diverse workload, meeting all deadlines.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. A good telephone manner is essential.
* To be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond under pressure to fluctuating circumstances and the immediate needs of a small team.
* A team player, with good interpersonal skills including a friendly and approachable manner.
* Accurate in their work, with a good eye for detail.
Head Office Merchandising experience within the retail sector (experienced MAA and above) would be desirable.
Working hours – Full Time - Monday to Friday – 08:30 to 17:00. However, we would be willing to discuss part-time hours for the right candidate.
Salary dependent upon experience.
