The School - Mentor The school is a SEN school based in the vibrant borough of Merton, South London who cater to pupils within the age range 4 to 19 who have diverse learning needs. All pupils admitted to the school should have a statement of special educational needs specifying their learning needs and the provision required to meet those needs. Pupils at the school experience many difficulties. The needs of the pupils are diverse and wide ranging and may include the following:- * Significant global learning difficulties * Physical, social or emotional immaturity * Physical disadvantage * Poor social, interactive or personal skills * Inappropriate behaviour associated with learning need * Low self esteem * Language and communication difficulties * Identified autistic spectrum disorder, ADHD or other diagnosed conditions The Role - Mentor We are looking for nurturing and proactive mentors to work on a part time bases (12-3 pm) Monday-Friday. The role is primarily to support emotional and behavioural difficulties within the class and could be 1:1 or small group support. You will be responsible for supporting the student/s with regulating their emotions, promoting positive peer interaction and encouraging learning objectives. The school aim to provide an environment within which all pupils can feel safe and secure. You will be supporting the school to assist pupils to develop self confidence and self esteem so that they learn to respect themselves and others, both within the school and the local community.
