We are a community-based, independent pharmacy looking for a part-time/full-time Pharmacy Dispenser to join our team.
We need someone to work alongside pharmacy technicians and under the supervision of the responsible pharmacist to ensure the safe, accurate, and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients.
To provide medicines-related and healthy lifestyle advice to patients, as well as assisting in the smooth operation of the pharmacy.
Ordering and restocking of the dispensary.
Dealing with queries from patients and organizing deliveries so that the driver's job is as efficient and safe as possible.
Hours of working are 11 AM till 8:30 PM, with a 30-minute unpaid break if required. This is needed over 4 to 5 days a week, with 1 or 2 in Saturday and/or Sunday shifts.
Overtime is available.
Key responsibilities:
* To select, label, and dispense pharmaceutical products in accordance with a prescription by following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and complying with all legal requirements.
* Receiving, loading, and unloading incoming goods from wholesalers and manufacturers.
* To ensure the safe and correct transfer of dispensed items to patients.
* To accurately maintain Patient Medication Records (PMR) to ensure patient safety and in accordance with data protection requirements.
* To identify medicine-related problems or queries and bring these to the attention of the pharmacist.
* To answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines, where it is within your competence.
* To receive stock in accordance with SOPs.
* To ensure the safe and appropriate storage of medicines.
* To assist with stock control and the maintenance of reasonable stock levels within the pharmacy environment.
* To respond to symptoms described by customers by following agreed protocols and using own knowledge and judgement.
* To select and recommend suitable products and provide advice on their correct use.
* To provide advice on leading a healthy lifestyle.
* To refer to the pharmacist when appropriate.
* To assist with the engagement of patients onto advanced services such as MURs and NMS.
* To maintain an up-to-date knowledge of medicines and minor ailments by reading journals, product information, and training resources.
* To assist in providing pharmaceutical care to patients by carrying out reasonable duties as determined by the needs of the business.
Experience:
* Previous experience as a healthcare assistant or pharmacy technician is preferred.
* Familiarity with medical terminology and acute care settings is a plus.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
* Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements:
* Previous experience as a pharmacy technician or similar role is preferred.
* Strong knowledge of medical terminology and pharmacy practices.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in medication preparation.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
* Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills for patient service.
* Flexibility to work in a hospital setting with varying shifts.
