Medical Receptionists Full/Part-time posts availableYou willbe the first point of contact for our patients, either on the phone or inperson. Experience of working in a medical environment would be advantageous,however full training will be given. Beinga flexible team player with excellent communication skills is to be covered will have a start time of08:00 and/or finish time of 18:30.
Main duties of the job
Main duties of the role will be:
Greeting and booking-in our patients at the front desk. Managing administrative tasks, emails, results and incoming letters. Handling high volume patient enquiries, both in person and on the telephone. Signposting patients to appropriate services or information sources. The ideal person will be computer literate to a high standard with the ability to multi-task effectively.

Job responsibilities
1. To have a thorough knowledge to be able to apply all Practice procedures & protocols accurately.
2. Ensure the service provided at Reception is effective and efficient.
3. Follow the Position Rota and ensure all actions on the relevant to do list are completed.
4. Make new, follow-up appointments and telephone consultations appropriately, in person and on the telephone, following the current protocol.
5. Use your own judgment and communication skills when assisting a patient who presents with an urgent problem.
6. Receive and make telephone calls as required. Transfer calls to colleagues and take full & accurate messages. Ensure all messages have been received.
7. Record home visit requests accurately & ensure GP is informed.
8. To assist patients with prescription requests, ensuring urgent requests and prescription queries are dealt with promptly.
9. Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non-GMS) services, accept payment and issue receipts.
10. Accurately send emails and ensure any received by the Practice are actioned immediately.
11. Deal with all general enquiries; explain practice procedures to patients and visitors clearly and confidently.
12. Enter appropriate patient information on to the computer accurately when required.
13. Explain Practice arrangements and formal requirements to new patients and those seeking temporary residency and ensure all forms are thoroughly completed.
14. When appropriate ensure that these patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
15. Retrieve and file medical records, ensuring strict alphabetical order is adhered to. Ensure medical records are kept in good repair, with all necessary information on the front cover is clearly visible.
16. Take responsibility for any individual jobs designated to you. Ensure they are completed efficiently and in a timely manner.
17. Open up premises at the start of the day, de-activate alarm and make all necessary preparations to receive patients and visitors.
18. When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure the building is totally secured, windows are closed, doors are shut, internal lights are switched off and the alarm system is activated.
19. Ensure the waiting area, reception areas and workstations are kept organised to maintain a professional appearance.
20. Ensure the kitchen is kept clean and tidy.
21. To be available for extra hours as required by the practice.
22. To attend team meetings which maybe outside your normal working hours.
23. To be prepared to work in other teams or locations if necessary.
24. And any other duties required by the Practice.
