Job Vacancy This is a fantastic opportunity to join our substance use social work team as a practitioner. This is a varied and challenging role based within a multidisciplinary substance use service at Number 11 recovery Hub in Dalkeith. The practitioner role within the team is to deal with social work tasks alongside 2 social workers and 1 other practitioner. You will hold a case load as agreed with your team leader and assist the rest of the team with day to day work as needed. You will be working with service users who have a substance use problem that they wish to address and you will also be working with people who are ambivalent about changing or who have involvement with mental health services and/or justice services. You will be expected to complete assessments and make applications for funding support in relation to rehab or other services. You will at times be required to support individual service users with specific activities as agreed with your line manager. You will also have significant engagement with carers and with outside organisations. The post involves travel outside Midlothian at times in order to support service users to rehab, attend reviews and other meetings therefore a car driver is desirable. There is potential to participate in delivering courses, for example decider skills, coping skills and working alongside third sector agencies to support service users to access peer support and community recovery café’s and supports. The successful applicant will demonstrate a real enthusiasm and drive to work with this service user group to improve outcomes. You must be a team player and also be able to work on your own initiative at times. This is a very close and supportive team, you will receive an induction which will cover all aspects of your role. KNOWLEDGE : Essential: Educated to HNC social care and SVQ Level 3 or equivalent with a relevant discipline. Experience of working with the national and local practice, policy, procedure and legislation relevant to the post. This includes an awareness of the SSSC Code of Practice, Human Rights legislation, Adult Support and Protection and adults with incapacity. Have experience of working with adults and families, and trauma based interventions. Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of key agencies. Desirable: Experience working with substance use, mental health and recovery based models. Experience working with challenging and sometimes chaotic situations with the potential for emotional distress. The ability to reflect on practice and learn from experiences.
