Role and Responsibilities: Lead and provide technical solutions for substations, including Single Line Diagrams, technical information, layouts, and associated documentation, ensuring compliance with established standards and customer specifications.
Develop technical concepts, specifications, and equipment/material selections, balancing cost, quality, and international standards.
Perform technical calculations and prepare purchasing specifications and schedules for all equipment related to projects and tenders.
Prepare Bills of Quantities, cost estimations, and manage deviations and clarifications for technical solutions.
Provide technical leadership for large and complex EHV/HV Air & Gas Insulated Substation (AIS & GIS) proposals and projects.
Lead and expand the design team, driving growth and development.
Required Experience & Qualifications Minimum 10 years experience in Transmission & Distribution Engineering, including significant experience in the UK market, alongside proven people management skills.
Comprehensive understanding of the Transmission & Distribution market.
Master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related technical discipline.
Extensive experience in power systems design up to 132kV (preferably up to 400kV) across a range of projects for industrial, distribution, and transmission networks.
Expertise in substation engineering, including conceptual/feasibility studies, system studies, protection, and substation design.
Solid knowledge of legislative demands and industry standards.
Proficiency in simulation software and electrical circuit modelling tools.
Strong understanding of system studies such as load flow, short circuit calculations, insulation coordination, Single Line Diagrams, CT/VT calculations, Auxiliary Power Systems, and power cables.
