An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Patient Services Department which is within the facilities division. We are looking to grow our already successful catering team, to work at the newly built Derwent unit which is part of Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust that is located in the grounds of Chesterfield Royal hospital.
The successful candidate will be a great team leader, who will be responsible for looking after our onsite kitchens at Derwent. You will lead the team to provide an efficient and effective operation of food production in this newly developed unit.
Your main responsibilities will include overseeing and coordinating the daily food production activities, maintaining high food quality standards, managing food production staff and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. You will be a great communicator and have the ability to think on your feet.
The hours of work are:
09:00 - 19:00 (9.5 hours) x 3 days week one/ 4 days week two.
The rota will be based on 2 week rota, working 3 days one week, 4 days the following week. You will be required to work alternative weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
1. To monitor and maintain consistent food standards and quality across all Derwent wards during all stages of production.
2. To ensure that quality control measures and hygiene systems are achieved at all times.
3. To prepare, cook and present inpatient feeding in line with expected departmental standards.
4. To ensure that all food is presented and served in line with standards using innovation in the method, presentation and food service.
5. To participate in the HACCP procedure in accordance with the Trusts Food Safety Policy, to create and maintain correct use of records including, but not limited to, cleaning rota and closing down procedures.
6. To ensure that quality control measures and hygiene systems are always achieved.
7. To have accountability for the day-to-day running of the kitchen service.
8. To monitor stock control, ensuring that stock rotation and use by dates for the production of food are followed and food is produced is not to contribute to wastage.
9. To be responsible for the correct recording and disposal of all food waste, suggesting innovative ideas to reduce waste.
10. To be responsible for the collection of deliveries to the site, undertaking quality assurance and all goods received are accounted for.
