Here at our Continence service, no day is ever the same. As a well-established Community Service, we care for patients with complex needs providing highly skilled assessments and support within their own home environment and in a clinic setting.
The role will involve working within a team of experienced Community Continence Nurses and working in partnership with multiple stakeholders and voluntary services to provide the best care to our community and shape the future of healthcare across Milton Keynes.
We are looking for nurses who can think on their feet and thrive on the challenges the working day can bring. You will be joining our team of highly motivated proactive professionals to continue our goal of developing our service beyond the traditional scope in response to the challenging health care needs that we are facing nationally.
The hours are 9am – 5pm, 5 days a week. Driving licence and use of a car is essential.
Main duties of the job
* The service sees adults with bladder and or bowel dysfunction with or without incontinence. The post holder will take a key role in the delivery of the service including assessment, development of individualised treatment plans, and giving advice to patients, carers, healthcare workers, and care home staff, both in clinic settings and at domiciliary visits.
* Takes responsibility for new visits/assessments, workload management and allocation, dealing with referrals.
* Maintains close liaison with the District Nursing teams, GP, and other members of the primary care team and wider health and social care.
* Applies current Infection Control Policy issues and universal precautions.
* Encourages patients towards self-care.

Qualifications
* Level 1 Registered NMC Nurse
* Evidence of other professional training, e.g., ENB 998
* Evidence of additional continence training
Experience
* Evidence of a wide range of clinical experience
* Experience as Community RGN
Knowledge
* Knowledge and understanding of current community nursing issues
* Sound clinical knowledge relative to experience gained
* NMC Code of Conduct
* Basic infection control issues and procedures
* Continence experience
* Sound practical skills
* Ability to work unsupervised
* Ability to work under pressure
* Ability to teach others, e.g., staff, patients
