Senior Healthcare Assistant - Band 3 - Permanent
We are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated Radiology Health Care Assistants to join the Nursing Team within the Radiology Department at Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust.
Candidates should have a flexible approach to changing patterns of work and provide a service over a 7-day period. We are looking for a committed and reliable member of staff, with good organisational and communication skills.
You will be rotated through CT, MR, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, and Breast Imaging, and the nature of your work will be varied. You will also have an advocate/chaperone role on behalf of both the patient and staff during intimate or invasive procedures. Previous hospital experience is desirable but not essential as training will be provided to ensure you have the skills required to fulfill the position.
Applicants should have good keyboard skills and preferably experience in using basic computer packages, including hospital systems.
Main duties of the job
You will work alongside healthcare professionals in all modalities of the radiology department, i.e., Breast, CT, MR, Ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and General X-ray.
1. Provide clinical support and delivery of care to patients attending for all radiology examinations.
2. Participate in giving compassionate high-quality personal care to patients.
3. Assist in preparing patients' notes, relevant charts/documentation, and making sure all relevant information is scanned into CRIS.
4. Assist with and provide a chaperone during invasive or intimate examinations.
5. Maintain cleanliness in the work environment in line with Trust Health and Safety policies.
6. Undertake a range of clinical competencies as directed by the Registered Healthcare Professional, including undertaking the patient's vital signs, such as Temperature, Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respiration, and Oxygen Saturation.
7. Blood glucose monitoring.
8. Prepare and maintain environments for clinical procedures.
9. Undertake a range of clinical competencies, e.g., Venipuncture and cannulation.
10. Assist consultant radiologists, ultrasound-sonographers, and radiographers in interventional procedures including biopsies, aspirations, and drainages.

Person Specification
Education and qualifications
* Completed the National Care Certificate
* Functional skills minimum Level 2 Math's and English or GCSE equivalent or working towards.
* Working towards or prepared to work towards obtaining an Apprenticeship in Clinical Healthcare.
Knowledge
* Awareness and understanding of the importance of confidentiality.
* Knowledge of Infection Control & Safeguarding processes.
Skills
* Can carry out Venipuncture and Cannulation.
* Can carry out observations, i.e., BP, Pulse, Temp.
Experience
* Worked at a band 2 Health Care Assistant level or equivalent.
* Experience working in a radiology setting.
