Medical Secretary ideally with experience of using EPR/Bluespier/KP+, scheduling patients for theatre, booking outpatient appointments, being able to prioritise workload and to be a team player.
The post is based within the ENT Department.
The post holder will provide secretarial support to the department Consultants, designated medical staff and their teams.
The postholder will be responsible for maintaining records both manually and on a computer system and demonstrate the ability to handle sensitive and confidential patient information, ie clinical letters, investigations and results.
The postholder acts as the first point of contact for all the forms of communication for the Consultants and medical team from GP's, patients and relatives, other hospitals.
Main duties of the job
1. Acting as link between patients, GP's, wards and theatres
2. Using the electronic patient system (EPR)
3. Scheduling patients on Bluespier in house system

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
* Education to GCSE Maths & English or equivalent A-C
* RSA III (or equivalent typing/word processing)
* Willing to undertake further development/training in all aspects of waiting list management
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE
* Significant experience in a busy office
* Medical Terminology
* Knowledge of National & Local guidelines on waiting list key standard targets
* Knowledge of Microsoft packages such as Word, outlook, excel
* Excellent communications skills with the ability to use tact and diplomacy when required.
* Ability to prioritise workload & work under pressure maintaining accuracy and managing deadlines
* Knowledge of EPR, Bluespier, KP+
COMMUNICATION AND RELATIONSHIPS
* Ability to work on own initiative, and make decisions within written guidelines, sometimes without reference to others
