The Main Purpose of the Role:
The role is about supporting your Head of Care, and Care Manager in leading a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety, development and welfare of our young people first. The role will provide appropriate physical and emotional support to our young people through direct input and the work of the support team within residential and learning environments and with off-site activities. You will be responsible for ensuring your team provides the highest standard of care and guidance to our young people.
Key Duties:
1. Manage delegated resources efficiently and co-ordinate team contributions to the ongoing maintenance and improvement of the establishment in line with the Development Plan.
2. Promote person centre planning for the young people in your care.
3. Support effective planning, preparation, supervision and assessment of all routines within the working day curriculum including production of plans and reports.
4. Ensure the medical needs of the young people are met at all times including requesting, administering and auditing prescribed medication as per the young peoples’ plans in accordance with company policy and establishment procedure.
5. Plan and facilitate a programme of CPD training opportunities for your team meetings.
6. Ensure compliance to legislation and regulatory requirements and support the Head of Care in preparation for any external inspections or audits.
Skills and Qualifications
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
7. Level 3 Diploma or equivalent for Children or Adults as appropriate to role.
8. Ability to lead the assessment of and care planning for the young adults as required.
9. Proven experience of working effectively with young adults with learning disabilities and/or special needs.
10. Experience of planning and organising activities appropriate to meet young adult’s needs and abilities, demonstrating positive outcomes.
11. Experience of person centred planning.
12. Ability to mentor and coach team members as well as deliver effective training.
13. Experience of person centred planning.
14. Some experience of managing a team and mentoring individuals in developing good practice in a care/learning support context.
