Job Description
Context and Purpose
This post is based in Chelmsford, supporting four Business Units within Teledyne UK Ltd. The site generates world-leading technology critical for humankind, including vital components for radiotherapy machines and the imaging devices used in ground-breaking space missions.
Teledyne employs c.15,000 people worldwide; our Chelmsford facility is one of the largest within the group, hosting multiple business units and functions.
The Finance team in Chelmsford covers the full range of accounting disciplines. We focus on providing a high quality, professional and efficient service to a wide range of customers, based locally, across the UK and across the world.
Due to retirement, we have a vacancy for a Cost Accountant to support the Business Units in Chelmsford and on our Lincoln sites.
Responsibilities
1. Maintaining financial integrity of inventory accounts
2. Periodic processing of financial inventory transactions and account reconciliations
3. Co-ordination and execution of standard cost accounting processes and updates
4. Co-ordination, support and oversight of physical inventory counts
5. Working with the business teams, providing advice and guidance on appropriate manufacturing and project management procedures to ensure inventory accounting requirements are met.
6. Work closely with purchasing, planning and logistics teams in support of costing, forecasting and optimisation of inventory levels
7. Provide oversight to ensure the business operates within the financial controls and procedures set by the Group
8. Developing effective relationships with key stakeholders across all levels and functions of Teledyne-e2v, including our Beijing Operations Facility
9. To be an active member of the wider Teledyne UK Finance team
Qualifications
1. Qualified Accountant
2. Minimum four years experience of inventory accounting
3. Experience of an ERP system - preferably SAP
4. Previous experience in a manufacturing and standard costing environment an advantage
5. Strong excel and analysis skills
6. Excellent communication skills
7. Proactive and 'can do' approach to work
8. Team player who embraces change and possesses a continuous improvement mind-set
9. Ability to work autonomously in the company
10. SC Security Clearance Required
