The successful candidate will become part of a small specialist team of military operations financiers. The role will entail ownership of several specific financial costing and reporting responsibilities; balanced with a degree of fast-paced dynamic costing tasks that often arise at short notice. The successful candidate will be a team player who enjoys the company of a small team, but also self-motivated and thereby able to take ownership of complex numerical tasks and operate effectively on them autonomously as tasks demand. They will also be familiar with overcoming ambiguity, communicating effectively to balance the conflicting needs of various stakeholder groups, whilst also delivering high quality cost models, and managing their workload to firm deadlines.
The individual should have a good level of working knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office programmes, in particular Microsoft Excel, with a keen interest in developing their foundation knowledge to a greater level. The successful candidate will be interested in the finance environment generally and eager to undertaking further developmental training, and although not essential, may eventually consider undertaking study towards an accountancy qualification.
The role offers a hybrid approach to working, with ample opportunity to work remotely/from home, balanced with time in-office to learn from colleagues, undertake briefings whereby face-to-face engagement is essential, and access systems that are not available remotely. The successful candidate, once sufficiently experience, will be required to accept the on-call duty mobile, on rotation, for a duration normally spanning 1 week, in order to field emergency costing calls 24/7, which also requires the individual to be within 2 hours of the headquarters during the on-call period
