Job summary This is an exciting opportunity to join the Chief Medical Officer team at the RUH, Bath. Working with the Interim Chief Medical Officer, and the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Strategy and Workforce, you will provide strong professional and clinical leadership to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, medical standards, patient experience and clinical productivity. Applicants will have had considerable experience in medical management with a demonstrable track record of clinical leadership in an acute setting/complex healthcare organisation. This role will also work closely with the Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurses and Divisional Leadership Teams supported by a number of Associate Chief Medical Officer roles to ensure we have sufficient resource for all areas of the CMO portfolio. Main duties of the job This role is one of two Deputy Chief Medical Officer posts. Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Safety and Clinical Effectiveness (This role) Supporting the delivery of the Trust's strategic goals with a focus on providing strong professional and clinical leadership to improve clinical outcomes, patient safety, medical standards, patient experience, efficiency and effectiveness. Taking the strategic lead in promoting a culture of patient safety that is open and transparent, the role will lead on the establishment of robust systems and processes to maintain outstanding levels of clinical performance, delivery of the Trust's Patient Safety programme and introduction of the new Patient Safety Incidence Response Framework (PSIRF) to ensure the provision of excellent patient care. This will work alongside the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Strategy and Workforce who ptovides leadership on the Clinical Strategy and all medical and dental workforce issues, through professional assurance, leadership development, workforce planning and productivity. The role leads on medical workforce planning, including the development of electronic job planning, consultant induction and health inequalities, improved medical staff engagement across the Trust, as well as input into the creation of medical leadership development programmes.
