We are looking for an experienced Maintenance Foreman to join our maintenance team as we embark on a substantial campaign of harbour infrastructure upgrades. The varied role will involve planning and assigning work to the maintenance team, operating and developing our planned maintenance system, managing stock levels and undertaking tasks related to your trade. The Foreman will be expected to drive continuous improvement in our Health and Safety culture and ensure the quality of work performed meets our customers' expectations. Maintenance Foreman Main Duties Organise, schedule and oversee all allocated work to a multidisciplinary maintenance team in an efficient manner to maximise productivity and quality of workmanship. Lead the development of the Port & Harbour computerised planned preventative maintenance system, and ensure maintenance schedules are followed for fixed and mobile infrastructure. Monitor and maintain real-time awareness of the team's materials usage and future need and raise requests for stock replenishment. Work with the Maintenance Team Technical Officer to seek opportunity for savings in materials and equipment costs through innovative selection and usage and early/bulk purchase of consumables. Undertake duties appropriate to the trade qualification(s) and experience held as may reasonably be required, from time to time, within the Section. Promote and maintain a culture of good Health and Safety compliance including completing risk assessments of maintenance work and engaging with team members to ensure hazards are identified, understood and mitigated through careful planning. R espond to emergency call outs to resolve urgent defects and failures outside normal working hours in accordance with out-of-hours response rota. Essential Requirements The successful candidate will hold a recognised trade qualification (NVQ or equivalent) in an applicable trade (e.g. electrician, welder, plumber, mechanic etc.) and have considerable experience in a marine or industrial setting. Demonstrable experience of supervising a medium-sized maintenance team in a medium to heavy industrial setting. IOSH managing safely or equivalent qualification is preferred. The proven ability to oversee workshops, ensuring Health and Safety aspects are managed and stock is both adequate and well organised. A moderate level of computing literacy with the willingness to further develop these skills if required. A full UK driving license. Preferred Requirements General experience in a marine setting with an understanding of the challenges that the natural elements pose to Port and Marina operations. VHF radio literacy and the ability to operate watercraft. The ability to operate site equipment such as counterbalance fork-lifts and mobile hoists (cherry picker).
