An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Nurse Practitioner to join our dedicated and friendly team at St Helens Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).
The post holder will work autonomously as a senior nurse within the UTC team seeing patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed health problems; triage, taking comprehensive histories, undertaking clinical examinations, diagnosing, planning & implementing care, administering medication and making referrals where appropriate.
The Urgent Treatment Centre is located in the heart of St Helens centre and sees around 65,000 patients annually, and has onsite x-ray facilities. We work closely with both primary and secondary care to provide a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Previous experience within a UTC/WIC/ED is essential for this role. (Consideration will be given for those candidates practicing clinical skills in other autonomous roles).
Main duties of the job
* Maintain a high standard of patient care in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct and within Scope of Practice
* Maintain own clinical and professional expertise by participating in clinical supervision, professional development planning and within NMC Code of conduct and Scope of professional practice
* Act as a resource for other members of the Urgent Treatment Centre Team
* Promote the clinical effectiveness of the nurse-led service using a multidisciplinary team approach
* Promote a culture which utilizes latest evidence and best practice
* Work autonomously under indirect supervision liaising with team leaders and coordinators as required.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* RGN with current NMC Registration
* Educated to Degree/Diploma level
* Clinical Examination/Diagnostics Skills Level 7 or equivalent
* Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification (V300) or working towards
Knowledge and Experience
* Substantial years post registration experience
* Experience in WIC/UTC or ED
* Knowledge of clinical skills required to undertake the role
* Knowledge of Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults procedures
* Experience of participation in Research and audit skills
* Knowledge of current professional & clinical issues
* Knowledge of how audit may influence quality of patient care

* Ability to negotiate and demonstrate a sound problem solving approach to work issues
* Ability to set and establish priorities
* Effective organisational and record management skills
* Extended scope of practice skills
* Basic treatment of life-threatening disorders - treatment of shock and acute medical conditions Basic life support
